Hello everyone, not quite sure how we are already into the second week in August but here we are! Sightings continue to be great with minkes, porpoise and harbour and grey seals. We have had some finback and humpback sightings but nothing we would call consistent but we are hopeful that will change soon. We have had a few encounters with large groups of Atlantic white-sided dolphins and for the seabird lovers we have been seeing good numbers of phalaropes (both red and red-necked), Wilson’s storm petrels, great shearwaters and a few sooty, northern gannets and razorbills.

The seabirds have been surprising, so happy with the numbers of shearwaters we have been seeing!

This immature prairie warbler landed on the boat in the fog, happy for some stable ground. It stayed with us until we were in the clear by Campobello – Image by CNeufeld

DOLPHINS! In our area we see great numbers of harbour porpoise and often get much better views of these small cetaceans than others do, but Atlantic white-sided dolphins are a TREAT!
