SIGHTINGS UPDATE
Saturday August 8, 2020

10am: This morning we headed out into flat calm waters and quickly picked up a minke whale. We got great looks then headed off to check out the Head Harbour Lighthouse at the northern end of Campobello Island and picked up 2 more minke whales. We stopped with seals as well and had a bald eagle on Spruce Island!

1:30pm: This afternoon we quickly picked up a minke whale thanks to Tracey’s excellent vision! We spent time with the whale while it meandered in and out of the islands. It gave us a bit of a tour so we were also able to see inactive and active fishing weirs and Atlantic salmon farms. We went by Whitehorse Island, and as it was high tide, did a circle around Head Harbour Lighthouse. We stopped with harbour and grey seals, and saw a juvenile bald eagle on a nest then it was time to head back to St. Andrews.

5pm: This evening we started searching for whales and picked up a minke that was doing some longer dives but was not moving very far. We got great looks at that minke whale and some harbour porpoise in the area, then moved over to see Head Harbour Lighthouse, view an adult bald eagle, and go by Whitehorse Island. We stopped with seals on the way back to St Andrews!
