SIGHTINGS UPDATE
Tuesday July 7, 2020

10am: This morning we stopped at Black Ledge to watch harbour and grey seals then headed off to White Horse Island to check out the herring, great black-backed, and kittiwake gulls. We also saw cormorants and guillemots. Then we swung by a lobster boat to see them haul up a couple of traps. We found a minke in Head Harbour Passage. And then 2 more showed up! We got to spend time with 3 minkes today! We finished the trip with a look at Head Harbour Lighthouse and an adult bald eagle on a marker.

1:30pm: This afternoon we headed off to Head Harbour Passage. Rika quickly picked up a minke whale swimming near by and Captain Mat picked up a second minke in the same area. We were treated to some good looks at harbour porpoise while we watched the whales. We checked out the eaglet in the nest on Popes Island and saw a couple of adult eagles nearby. We ran by White Horse Island to see the nesting gulls and stopped with seals on Black Ledge on the way back to St. Andrews.
