SIGHTINGS UPDATE
Wednesday August 19, 2020
10am: This morning we had Slice! Slice is a favourite minke whale of our crew and regular passengers. We had some great looks then headed off to watch many, many harbour porpoise and birds feeding. We picked up another 3 minke whales, saw a bald eagle sitting on a radar reflector, and stopped with seals before returning our passengers to St Andrews!
1:30pm: This afternoon we headed out to find heaps of seals hanging out on Black Ledge. We spent a bit of time searching for whales, then ended up having 5 minkes at various distances all around the boat including Slice! There were harbour porpoise and we watched an eagle flying among the bird groups.
5pm: This evening we had large bird groups with many porpoise under them. Then we picked up two minke whales, saw 2 bald eagles, a juvenile eagle, took a cruise by Whitehorse Island, and saw harbour and grey seals! We were surprised by a third minke whale on the way back toΒ St. Andrews and got lots of great looks. Before we started to head home we got a look at a LARGE shark by Black Ledge, this is the same area where there were numerous white shark sightings last summer, EXCITING way to end the trip π¦π¦!!
Thanks to Rika for the updates today. THANK YOU to all of our passengers for joining us on the Quoddy Link
Cheers,
